As the majority of studies on wild cats in Sri Lanka focus on the sole apex predator, the leopard, and a few on the fishing cat, WSCG identified a significant gap in the research on the other two wild cat species. To address this knowledge gap, the society initiated a project on wild cat species in Sri Lanka, studying the rare behaviors of these often-overlooked species. The data collected during the project were successfully compiled into a comprehensive book on the wild cats of Sri Lanka.
