WCGS takes pride in being the exclusive producer of the first book dedicated solely to the primates of Sri Lanka. The catalyst for this exceptional project was the encounter with the white morph type of the purple-faced leaf monkey in the southern Sinharaja. This noteworthy experience evolved into an interesting paper published in the Journal of Primate Conservation International, ultimately leading to the creation of the first comprehensive book on the primates of Sri Lanka
Our dedicated team travelled throughout the country, capturing photographs of all available subspecies of primates on the island. Particularly fascinating was our documentation of one of the world’s endangered and elusive primates—the Horton Plains slender Loris. This book marks a significant milestone in wildlife-related publications by providing a critical overview of every ecological aspect of all subspecies of primates in Sri Lanka.
